As I work in the herb garden on this beautiful hot day, the scent of all the plants is overwhelming, deeply therapeutic and always reminds me how plants are medicine.
Long before the pharmaceutical era started, we relied on natural remedies made with plants. Compounds extracted from deep within plant cells are essential oils derived from leaves, flowers, roots and bark, their “essence”.
Essential oils are among the most powerful healing agents our natural environment has to offer preventing + treating ailments as well as enhancing our health and promoting overall well-being.
Benefits of essential oils are vast and include help with sleep, relief of stress/anxiety, are anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiseptic, boost immunity, and are adaptogens proven by numerous studies to have a normalizing effect on the body’s functions without causing side effects and disruption.
We need to continue to explore the value of these healing powers even more now as we look at options to be proactive participants in our own health.
